Let's talk about moving large classes online. We know that teaching large classes is a challenge under the most ideal of circumstances. Large classes are often synonymous with lack of student engagement, poor student performance and little critical thinking development. Under a time of pandemic and with a rapid pivoting online, let's talk about ways to mitigate these issues. I will present 5 principles that I employ in my large classes - active learning, student success, equity, an ethic of care and the Citizen Scholar. Further, I will also explore with you possibilities to address one of the main challenges to large classes - grading. Looking forward to seeing you.
